There's a beautiful little harbor on the northern coast of the island of Brac called Splitska. Because of Brac's beautiful bays at Splitska and Zastup, tourism is becoming more and more important to the economy of Brac, along with its more traditional occupations of wine making and olive cultivation.
Aside from its staggering natural beauty, this harbour village also retains an aristocratic charm that can be found in its Renaissance citadel that the Cerenic-Cerineo family built in 1577. There's also a Renaissance painting at the local parish church, "Blessed Virgin Mary," in the village of Splitska called "Madonna with Child."
Splitska is an ancient port from which the excellent stone from Brac was shipped to construct the Diocletian palace over in Split. At the stone quarry of Rasohe, you can find a relief of the Greek hero "Heracles," which is thought to have been carved by the slaves who cut the stone from the quarry.
There are many walking paths near Splitska making it perfect for nature walks and treks that can take you to nearby equally picturesque and interesting villages - such as Skrip, which is just 45 minutes away, Postira, which is an additional 30 minutes, and Bol another 30 minutes as well.
There are many comfortable apartments and rooms that can be rented out to accommodate you and your family on a perfect holiday to Splitska, where you can enjoy wonderful food and delicious wine.
