On the northern coast of the island of Brac lays the town of Postira, which can easily be accessed from the mainland by taking a ferry from Split to Supetar. Postira has developed into a fishing settlement with its own harbour due to its amazing location and accessibility. There is an abundance of home-grown food and locally made wines produced from the fertile fields of Postira, which will delight visitors to the town.
Its name comes from the Latin "Partura," and was founded in the 14th Century. Remains of a former church of the Paleochristian period were found underneath the parish church of St. John the Baptist, and there are even more interesting buildings in Postira's harbour such as the Renaissance Palace of Lazanic where Vladimir Nazor, the poet, was born. Centuries ago, buildings like these were built by the wealthy landowners of Brac.
